Individual Therapy

I work with people who long to feel safe connection to their emotional experiences, their relationships, and their lives. I think of this as homecoming work, supporting people to come fully home to self. I am honoured to support individuals in reclaiming their sense of self following experiences of childhood adversity, marginalization, masking and undiagnosed neurodivergence, transphobia and queerphobia, burn out, or relational struggle.

Transformation comes from experience. From our very first session together, we will explore what happens when you get to experience the safety, connection, presence and aliveness you've been longing to feel - right here, right now. Expanding our story of what is possible for us to feel allows change to take root from the get-go. As our work goes on, we offer this gift to ever deeper parts of self.

Individual Therapy in Victoria, B.c.

My work is anchored in my professional trainings in AEDP, Focusing Oriented Therapy, and Internal Family Systems. Teachings from these modalities and my professional experiences have directed my clinical lens toward the following areas:

Specializations

Attachment and Childhood Adversity

As young people, our families and experiences of home had enormous impact of the development of our nervous systems. I work in ways which foster compassion for the younger versions of ourselves. Often, our work will involve visiting these parts of us, through memory reconsolidation or through connection to them in the present moment, so that we may be freed to heal our nervous systems and our stories.

Relational Challenges

Historical and current relational challenges shape us and have immense information about our position in our lives and in the world. My training in relational therapies asks the constant questions: how are you experiencing being with your pain and joy with me in session, and how can your experience of others hold a key to transformation and growth?

Anxiety, Depression, and Emotional Experience

Often, we have learned that our emotions might be unsafe. We weren’t shown how to be with them without becoming overwhelmed, or getting stuck, and we now may fear them or avoid them. For those who have histories of anxiety, panic, or depression, our nervous systems may get stuck in modes which aren’t conducive to safely processing our experiences to completion. I bring opportunity to understand our relationship to our emotions and nervous systems, and then to experience them in new ways. Through these experiences, we learn how to be with the deepest parts of ourselves.

Somatics and the Body

Our bodies hold our joy, our pain, our histories. They respond to emotional memory long after events fade. They have their own learning and wisdom. Disconnection, over-control, perfectionism or dissociation from the body are often rooted both in culture and in coping. Our work brings the body into our sessions so that we can listen to, and truly hear, our selves. My approach takes time with the relationship to your body in ways that honour them as sites of profound healing.
